Further giving impetus to development works in the Jalandhar Cantt constituency, Sports and Education Minister Pargat Singh today kick-started a road project at Choti Baradari Part –I at any outlay of Rs. 1.50 crore besides distributing funds to Panchayats for various development works.Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the road project would full-fill the much-awaited demand of the residents of Choti Baradari Part-I adding that as many as 22 road inside the locality along with 100 feet wide main Garha road to be re-carpeted at an expenditure of Rs. 1.50 crore. He issued directions to the executing agency to complete the project within stipulated time-frame that too strictly adhering to the quality norms of the roads. He also told officials to accord top priority to this road project as any kind of inordinate delay would be dealt with strictly.Mr. Pargat Singh also had interaction with the residents of Choti Baradari and listened to their issues while giving on-the-spot directions to officials of the concerned department to resolve the problems of residents at the earliest. He reinforced that there was no paucity of funds to carry out development works in the constituency as a series of projects have already been initiated by the government here.

In another development the Minister announced development of two sports stadiums at Rs. 1.25 crore including stadium at village Bambiawal at Rs. 75 lakh and Bhode Saprai at Rs. 50 lakh. He stated that these state-of-the-art stadia would ensure sports culture in rural areas thereby triggering health awareness among people.Meanwhile, the minister visited villages Diwali and Kangniwal and handed over cheques for Rs. 10 lakh each to both the Panchayats which would be incurred on several projects in villages. He stated that the Panchayats must utilize all these funds within stipulated time-frame adding that the state government was committed towards the all-round development of the villages for which a slew of initiatives were already launched by the state government. He also announced additional funds for the maintenance of school and playground in village Kangniwal and Diwali.He also mentioned that the state government has emphasized the improvement of the rural road network, availability of clean drinking water, strengthening of infrastructure in schools, healthcare facilities in villages, and construction of model playgrounds for the rural folk. The distributed amount would be spent to develop drainage systems, roads, parks, and other infrastructure in the villages, he added.
