Medical Education and Research Minister Punjab, Dr. Raj Kumar Verka assured to solve the problems of the Nursing Training Institutes and at the same time he appealed to the Nursing Training Colleges to provide better environment and facilities the nursing students for the quality education.While reviewing the issues raised by the representatives of Nursing Training Colleges Associations at the Punjab Bhawan here today, Dr. Verka said he will take steps to address the problems of nursing colleges after studying the rules of the Indian Nursing Council and the methods adopted by the rest of the states. Issue raised by the associations regarding the very low enrollment in nursing colleges this year on the basis of entrance test, he asked the Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Dr. Raj Bahadur to review it. It may be recalled that at present there are 103 nursing colleges in Punjab with 5060 seats.

The issues raised regarding the current system of re-registration of students of other states, inspection of colleges every year and reduction of existing land limits for colleges, Dr. Verka also promised to study these issues and find a solution. He asked the nursing colleges to play a healthy role in the field of education so, that the nursing students could make their best contribution in the field of health and play a constructive role in the society.During the meeting, Principal Secretary Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Mrs. Raji P. Srivastava, Principal Secretary Medical Education and Research Mr. Alok Shekhar, Additional Secretary Mr. Rahul Gupta, Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Dr. Raj Bahadur, Director, Medical Education and Research Dr. Sujata Sharma, former Minister Mr. Ashwani Sekhri, former Minister Mrs. Malti Thapar besides office bearers of various associations were present.
