The District Information Centre (DIC) Shopian in collaboration with Azad Cultural Society Thearian, Kandi today organised a Mushaira event at Aarash Ganowpora Shopian.Renowned poet Bashir Parwana presided over the Mushaira. He said that he was grateful to the District Information Centre for sponsoring the event. He further added that it was Aazad Cultural Society's mandate to promote literary activities at the grassroots level and his organisation was doing its best to live up to its constitutional obligation.During the Mushaira, various prominent poets including Mushtaq Kulgami, Rashid Sidiqee Mohammad Maqbool, Mohammad Amin Nishat, Gh. Ahmed Showkeen and budding poets recited their poems, besides threw light on Covid-19 pandemic, appealing the people to come forward, not pay heed to rumours and get themselves vaccinated at their nearby vaccination centres as soon as possible to save the precious lives.Malik Abdul Jabar Shayak's book ‘Aalove’ was also released on the occasion and also a mushaira was held in which twenty poets recited their latest poetic collections.The poets and locals appreciated the Information Department for organizing such an event and asked the department to organize more such programmes in future also.
