Jail Department, Punjab marked 75th Independence Day at Central Jail, Patiala. ADGP (Prisons), Mr Praveen Kumar Sinha hoist the tricolour and got salute from the Jail  Guards.Addressing the prisoners, ADGP (Prisons), highlighted the importance of freedom and exhorts to contribute collectively for the prosperity of the country and stay away  from all the evil forces and anti-social activities.He said that we should take a pledge to be the responsible citizens by learning from our past as we have been here, in the phase  of transformation by one and another reason. Exhorting the prisnors to prepare themselves for a new life after the completion of sentence, he said that now a days, Jails have  been providing an opportunity of rehabilitation by imparting vocational training to them. On this occasion, the inmates of the jail presented national and cultural bonanza.     Subsequently, the official of the Prison Department were awarded with the Commendation Certificates and Commendation discs. 

Kanwar Veer Partap Singh, Deputy Superintendent Head Quarters, Varun Sharma, Deputy Superintendent, Central Jail Patiala, Prabhjot Singh, Assistant Superintendent, New Jail  Nabha, Sarwan Singh, Assistant Superintendent (OPS), Central Jail Patiala, Nachhatar Kaur Assistant Superintendent (OPS), District Jail Ludhiana, Darshan Singh, Head Warder,  Sub Jail Malerkotla, Rajinder Singh, Senior Constable, Punjab Jail Head Quarters, Manpreet Singh and Navdeep Rattan,  Warders, Central Jail Patiala, Balwant Singh, Warder,  Central Jail Ludhiana were awarded with Commendation Discs. Similarly, Avtar Singh, Head Warder, Sub Jail Malerkotla, Harpreet Kaur, Head Matron, District Jail Ludhiana,  Kuldeep Kaur , Matron, District Jail Ludhiana, Harpreet Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur and Gurvir Kaur, Matron, Central Jail Bathinda and Gurpreet Kaur, Matron, District Jail Ludhina  were awarded with Commendation Certificates. Apart from that, twenty employees were given certificate-1. The programme ended with a spectacular Bhangra performance by the  Jail Inmates.IG (Prisons), Roop Kumar Arora and DIG (Prisons) Surinder Singh Saini also graced the occasion. Patiala Jail Superintendent, Shivraj Singh Nandgarh, Additional  Superintendent, Rajdeep Singh Brar, Deputy Superintendent, Security, Varun Sharma, Deputy Superintendent, Factory, Harjot Singh Kaler, Welfare Officer Jagjeet Singh and  other jail officials were also present during the Independence day function.
