Round the clock surveillance in snatching-prone areas under the Safe City Project continues to help the Kapurthala Police as now it has busted a snatchers' gang and arrested four persons besides recovering the snatched gold, two stolen bikes and one Activa scooty used to commit crime.The accused have been identified as Navish alias nony , Lovedeep Singh both residents of Kusht Ashram area, Harish alias kala resident of Mohalla Malkana  of Kapurthala city and Goldsmith Iqbal Singh alias Laddi resident of Sidhwan dona Kapurthala.With their arrest, the police have solved eight cases of gold/vehicle thefts.In a press release, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that the Safe City Project was launched a few days back and under which new PCR patrol motorcycles teams were deployed to the city area for immediate action on every complaint and instructions were given to keep a hawk eye on the activities of anti-social elements.The SSP said that in the last few days some complaints of gold snatching and vehicles' theft were received from the city area and as soon as the police got the information, the newly launched PCR Patrol Party Immediately reached the spot and scanned the CCTV footage from nearby establishments.Khakh said that after getting the first clue from the CCTV, different police teams were deployed to identify and arrest the accused. Teams were sent to the possible routes where the miscreants were seen in the footage, he added.

He said that under supervision of SP(D) Vishaljit Singh and DSP(D) Sarabjit Singh police teams of CIA Kapurthala traced the criminals and nabbed brothers Navish alias Noni, Luvdeep Singh along with Harish alias Kala after recovering the Activa scooty and stolen bikes when they tried to escape after seeing the police party.During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed eight offenses committed by them, which included gold snatching form women at Kala Sangha Road near Rajpur, Petrol Pump near Wadala Railway Flyover, DC Chowk to Peer Choudhary Road near Army Gate, Kanjali Road Petrol Pump, Bhawanipur Road near canal.Similarly the accused have also disclosed that they had stolen a Pulsar 150 motorcycle from Chuhar Wali Octroi City Hall, and a few days ago they snatched a bike from a dealer near Jyoti Chowk Jalandhar which they took for test-drive before purchase.The SSP said during the investigation, the accused revealed that they are addicted to drugs and sell all the looted gold to a Goldsmith Laddi in RCF area. The police teams have also arrested Goldsmith Laddi for his involvement and buying the snatched gold.SSP said that all the accused have been arrested and a case under sections 411,34 of Indian Penal Code has been registered, he said.He added that the accused would be produced in the local courts and would be taken on remand for further interrogation.With the Safe City Project yielding good results, SSP Khakh said that more efforts are going on to provide very active policing to the general public and the same will be ensured in the coming days.
