On the occasion of International Day Against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, MLA Sushil Rinku, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, and SSP Naveen Singla said that to further create the awareness against the scourage of drugs a week long special awareness drive would be launched in the district as announced by Chief Minister  Captain Amarinder Singh during a state level virtual event to mark the occasion.Participating in the function led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the MLA, DC, and SSP said that state government has snapped the supply line of drugs, now it has decided to start a major sensitization drive through school and college students so that the drug dependents can contribute immensely for socio-economic development of state.They said that the state government has opened drug de-addiction and OOAT centres for the treatment of the drug dependent youths which have been receiving an overwhelming response. They mentioned that under mission Red Sky the district administration was making all out efforts to get employment opportunities to these people.Meanwhile, Navjeet Kaur a student of Government Senior Secondary Smart School village Krari who was also a senior Buddy in the School interacted with the Chief Minister and lauded the initiatives like BUDDY and DAPO programs to create awareness among students against drugs in a early age so that they were aware of ill-effects of this disease.On this occasion, Assitant Commissioner Hardeep Singh l, DDPO Iqbaljeet Singh, English Lecturer Surjit Lal,Youth Congress leader Angad Dutta, Honey Joshi, and others were also present.
