With a view to cover the rural population under the vaccination drive, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Monday directed the Block Development and Panchayat Officers (BDPOs) and Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) to organize block level camps on a daily basis. Chairing a meeting of health and civil administration's officers here at district administrative complex, the DC ordered the officials to cover 50 villages ensuring 100 percent vaccination every week so that maximum rural population could be covered under the vaccination drive. He further asked the concerned sub divisional magistrates to ensure coordination between both the departments to complete this task smoothly. He directed the officials to submit the list of villages where camps are going to be held in advance so that a proper vaccination plan could be worked out. Two camps in each development block would be organized daily, he added. Pointing out further, Mr. Thori said that in urban areas more mobile camps with the help of NGOs, and Resident Welfare Societies to be arranged throughout the city for speedy administration of vaccines. He also mentioned that as the government has adopted a `first consume, first get' policy for vaccine supply, thus it was imperative to use the stock as soon as it arrived. The DC also directed the BDPOs to make public announcements in advance in villages where vaccination camp is going to be held so that people were aware of the camp in their village. He categorically mentioned that any kind of laxity in this task would be highly unwarranted and severe action would be taken against those found guilty. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh, SDMs Gautam Jain, Dr. Jai Inder Singh, Vineet Kumar, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Harpreet Singh Atwal, Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh, DDPO Iqbaljit Singh, and all BDPOs and SMOs.
