The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar today chaired District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting with the concerned functionaries to discuss various road safety measures and other vital issues pertaining to transport mechanism.Meeting was attended by SSP Baramulla Rayees Ahmad Bhat, ARTO Mubashir Jan, district and sectoral officers, representatives of some NGOs among other concerned functionaries.On the occasion, ARTO presented a detailed presentation wherein he described the present scenario of the public transport system along with road safety action plan reflecting targets assigned to allied departments. Representatives of various other departments and NGOs also presented their record performance pertaining to transport mechanism besides apprising bottlenecks hampering the proper implementation of road safety measures.Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized upon the concerned authorities to work in proper coordination and cohesion so that real objectives, as envisaged in the traffic plan are realized. He also deliberated for adopting the requisite safety measures so that the accidental ratio is minimized.

 Moreover, the DC exhorted upon the concerned stakeholders to mobilize all the available resources in order to provide safe road infrastructure and sustainable transport services to the masses with best emergency care. Kumar further directed to identify the black spots so that appropriate remedial measures are taken for the overall safety of human lives. He also emphasized upon the concerned authorities to formulate a proper and viable plan with respect to emergency and critical care and disseminate awareness by displaying hoardings embedded with emergency helpline numbers. He also directed the govt functionaries to hire commercial vehicles for transacting any kind of officail functions. The DC also directed to take transporters and others associated with transport sector on board while formulating road safety plans and measures.SSP Baramulla also presented their working mechanism and informed about various measures in vogue for regulating and streamlining traffic system in the district.
