To detect and treat Covid patients at the earliest especially in the rural hinterland witnessing a surge in cases, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Aggarwal on Tuesday called up panchayats to motivate the people for reporting to the doctors without fail in case of flu-like symptoms and get tested for Covid.Addressing the panchayat members and others in Malakpur village under Mission Fateh program of Punjab government, Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said the foremost priority is to protect the human lives from the pandemic and said panchayat heads and members can do wonder by ensuring sensitization activities at the grassroots and taking the message of contacting the doctor immediately on very first symptom so that timely treatment can be initiated which would further help to save precious lives.They further told them to take the services of local religious/social leaders to educate the people about Covid symptoms including cold, cough, fever, sore throat body ache, and others. They asked the people not to take the pandemic lightly and extend fulsome support to the health department and administration in fighting the battle by reporting the symptoms to the doctors without fail.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that it was need of the hour to adhere to the guidelines issued by the State Government and Health Department against COVID-19 including wearing protective masks, washing hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, and immediately inform the health authorities in case of any symptoms of coronavirus.Further, they told all entitled people to get the vaccine without any fear or doubt as it would help to break the transmission chain of the virus by building herd immunity.They also said that a whatsApp group of 10 villages would be formed involving sarpanch, panch, SHO, ACPs and local BDPOs which would help to get the updates about testing and vaccination camps, medicines and precautions.They also told them to start holding 'Thikri Pehras' in the village to restrict the entry of Covid infected persons which may spread the disease in the village and intimate the administration so that they can be isolated without delay.They said that there was no dearth of resources and manpower with the administration to tackle this pandemic.Prominent among present occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Sandeep Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr Kiran Ahluwalia Gill, MC Councillor Harkanwal Vaid, DDPO Sanjiv Kumar and others.Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Rakesh Aggarwal also inaugurated 25-bedded isolation facility in nearby Rishi Nagar.
