Punjab Government’s proposed Wood Park at the outer of Hoshiarpur city would start a new era of development for plywood industry in the state as the establishment of this ambitious project is being started by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh within a month. The construction, widening and strengthening of Link Road falling on Hoshiarpur-Dasuya Road leading to wood park today jointly kick started by the Industries Minister Sunder Sham Arora and Sham Churasi MLA Pawan Kumar Adia.After getting the work started, the Minister said far this road would be constructed within a few months at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. He said that the 2.5 kilometer long stretch of this road would be of 18 feet including 14 feet of bitumen and two feet pavement of interlocking tiles on both sides, which would not only be immensely beneficial for industry but also for the natives of several villages connecting to this road. He said that this upgradation and strengthening for road would further boost the infrastructure of Wood Park.The Minister also informed that the Wood Park would be developed at a cost of Rs. 16 crore, which would provide direct employment to more than 5000 persons besides creating indirect employment opportunities for over 10,000 people in the region.
He asserted that all requisite facilities and infrastructure would be ensured at all cost by the Punjab Government for the facilitation of plywood industry. With establishment of wood park, the farmers of Punjab cultivating eucalyptus and poplar trees need not to go to Yamunanagar to sell their produce, said the Minister adding they could be getting remunerative prices here in Wood Park. MLA Pawan Kumar Adia said that the Wood Park would be another milestone in the holistic development of the region especially the Sham Churasi constituency. He also thanked Captain Amarinder Singh and Sunder Sham Arora for developing this industrial hub in this area and said another major promise made with the people and industrialist had been fulfilled.
