Punjab Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu along with newly elected Mayor of Mohali Municipal Corporation Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu and his team today called on Housing Minister Sukh Sarkaria and thanked him for his support for the development of Mohali city. On the occasion both the Ministers discussed the development work of Mohali city at length. Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu also asked Minister Sukh Sarkaria to immediately provide Rs. 50 crore from GMADA for the development of Mohali. Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, Mayor, Mohali Municipal Corporation, Sarabjit Singh, Secretary Housing, Pradeep Kumar, CA GMADA, Kamal Garg, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Amrik Singh Somal, Senior Deputy Mayor, Kuljit Singh Bedi, Deputy Mayor and other officials were present on the occasion.It may be recalled that earlier due to the intervention of Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, GMADA had provided Rs. 25 crore and Rs. 9 crore to the Municipal Corporation for parks and other development works respectively.

Minister Sidhu said in the meeting that most of the development works in Sectors 76 to 80 which were to be completed by GMADA are yet to be completed and similarly all the parks in Mohali were also taken from GMADA under the Municipal Corporation and the maintenance cost is to be borne by GMADA. He apprised the Housing Minister that there was a dire need for funds for the development of the city and asked that an amount of Rs. 50 crore should be provided immediately.Minister Sukh Sarkaria asked the Commissioner Municipal Corporation to come up with his development proposals so that these funds could be made available to him immediately. Apart from this, regarding the establishment of Khokha market in Mohali, the Health Minister Sidhu asked the Housing Minister to allot pucca shops in Guru Nanak Market and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Market Phase 1 Mohali. The Housing Minister also assured Health Minister Sidhu to take immediate action in this regard.
