Chairman National Commission for Scheduled Castes Vijay Sampla along with senior civil and police officers today met the  family members of a minor girl, who succumbed to death after consuming a poisonous substance in a village falling in Bullhowal police station. The Chairman expresses deep grief and sympathy with the family and assured all possible help from the Commission to ensure justice in a speedy manner.After visiting the village, the Chairman said that the Commission had given directives to Civil and Police administration to ensure timely disbursal of compensation to the victim family as per the act. Chairman accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait and SSP Navjot Singh Mahal after taking stock of the whole incident said that the commission had sought a detailed report immediately after the incident took place following which Director General of Police had informed the commission about the action taken by the police. He further asked district administration to initiate procedure to provide other requisite facilities to the affected family. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait informed that the administration has already started process to provide financial assistance as per the act to the family and they would receive first installment of the compensation within a couple of days. 

SECOND ACCUSED ALSO NABBED : NAVJOT SINGH MAHAL 

Speaking on the occasion SSP Navjot Singh Mahal said that the main accused was already arrested and the second accused hasd also been arrested in this case. He stated that the special teams under the supervision of SP investigation Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu and DSP (crime against women) Madhvi Sharma to nab the accused. The SSP said that with the help of technical tips and mobile forensic information, and tireless efforts of police teams led to arrest of both the accused. He added that police was ensuring timely completion of the investigation so that charge sheet could be filed in the court at the earliest. Navjot Singh Mahal said that police had nabbed main accused on Thursday  by conducting raids on 17 different hideouts of accused while second accused has also been arrested subsequently. Divulging the details, he said that as per the complaint submitted by victim’s mother, the victim girl had left her home at around 10:30 am on March 28 to do school work in her friend’s home but both the accused had abducted her on the way and took her away in their car. She also mentioned that somehow the victim got herself released and reached home but died during the treatment. The SSP said that an FIR under section 306, 365, 366-A, 506, 34, 376-D, section 4, 6 of POCSO Act, and section 3 of SC/ST Act was lodged in Police Station Bullowal.
