Beti Bachao Beti Padhao awareness Rally organised at Samba

District Administration Samba today organised a Mega Awareness Rally on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to intensify save girl child campaign and promote it as a watchword slogan for improving child sex ratio by engaging the community and to defy age old bias against girls.The rally composing around 150 girls was flagged off by District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria. The participating students were drawn from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Samba, Government High School Katli and Government High Behari.Speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner said that such awareness programmes are being organised to sensitize people about dwindling child sex ratio and its related consequences. He further said that this is an endeavour to end gender biases in the society and truly empower the girls. He said empowerment of woman is only possible by community solidarity with emphasis on change in mindset.Elucidating the role of education in empowering the girl, he appealed the parents to educate them. He further exhorted upon Health, Education, ICDS, Social Welfare departments to work in tandem so that aims and objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign is achieved. The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme   envisages multipronged approach by providing quality Health and Education to girl children; to bring about attitudinal change in the society and focus on eradication of infanticide.Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jitender Mishra; Social welfare officer, Deep Kumar; Besides other district officers were also present on the occasion.
