Continuing with  Block Divas  initiatives of  Lieutenant Governor Administration,  special public grievance redressal camps were held across Bandipora district on Wednesday to get the first hand appraisal of the  issues faced by public.The public interaction programme witnessed huge participation of locals who were enthusiastic about presenting the issues of the area before the District administration team led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad. He gave patient hearing to all issues put forth and took 24 spot decisions for Speedy action.Among other issues raised during the programme include desilting of Irrigation Khuls , removal of encroachments on fast track basis,  completion of incomplete SSA buildings, construction of Panchayat Ghar, Solid Waste management in Panchayats, renovation of water bodies, macadamization of roads and filling of potholes, making toilets in Bandipora market functional, regulation of traffic in Bandipora town besides others.

While responding to the grievances, the DC instructed Panchayats to impose ban on polythene to ensure minimum use of plastic and asked them to ensure proper collection of waste through Panchayat Committees.He called for identification of landfill sites in each block and Panchayat by BDOs in consultation with the Revenue Department. The DC also called for adopting zero tolerance against encroachment of water bodies and instructed revenue and Irrigation and Flood Control Deptt to ensure removal of encroachments.Besides members of District Development Council, Block Development Chairmen and other members of Panchayat Raj Institutions, Additional District Development Commissioner Afsar Ali Khan, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD and R&B, BDOs besides other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir along with SDM Sumbal attended the Block Diwas at Dak Bunglow Sumbal, where he heard the public grievances.
