Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today chaired a meeting of the high level committee constituted by the government for examining the working of Gazetteers Unit, Srinagar at Civil Secretariat here.The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez  Rohella; Secretary, Culture Department, Sarmad Hafeez; Secretary Law Department, Achal Sethi;  representatives of Jammu/Kashmir universities, other members of the Committee,  besides senior officers of allied department  were also present in the meeting.The meeting held detailed deliberations on working of Gazetteers unit and also discussed certain measures and reforms which can be initiated for revival of the Gazetteers unit.Pertinently, the government recently constituted a high level committee to undertake comprehensive review of working of Gazetteers unit as well as to examine role played by other allied departments in terms of collection of data for their respective organizations and the availability of vital data and information through different means.
