Career Counseling and Placement Cell of Govt. Degree College, Kathua in collaboration with  District Employment & Counselling Centre, Kathua today organized an online Career Awareness Programme  for the students.The programme was held under the overall supervision of Prof. Asha Ram Sharma, Principal, GDC, Kathua.The special Resource Persons were Maxiumn Gorkie, Assistant Director, District Employment & Counselling Centre, Kathua and Surjeet Kumar, Career Counselling Officer, District Employment & Counselling Centre, Kathua.The programme was conducted under Manodarpan initiative of MHRD, Govt. of India. This programme was one among series of Programmes being conducted in different colleges of State under able and the leadership of Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education, Talat Parvez Rohella (KAS)The programme was inaugurated by College Principal., Prof. Asha Ram Sharma. In his inagural address, he thanked Commissioner Higher Education Department for constituting Psychological cum Career Counselling and Placement units in all Districts of J&K. He appreciated the role of Career Counselling and Placement Cell of GDC, Kathua for organizing various awareness activities in collaboration with various Govt./Non- Govt. agencies. 

He highlighted the importance and necessity of such career awareness programmes for the students.  He encouraged the students to become job creators rather than job seekers. Maxiumn Gorkie, in her presentation on “Employment Scenario in J&K and Different Self Employment Schemes by Govt. Departments” explained in detail different types of schemes offered by various Govt. agencies like JKEDI, NABARD, PMEGP etc.She highlighted various subsidies provided by Govt. under different self-employment schemes.  Surjeet Kumar, in a power point presentation, discussed various benefits of registration on National Career Services portal. He explained the process of registration and the benefits of various services offered by National Career Services portal like Job Opportunities throughout India. He further emphasized the students to take benefit of Counselling offered through NCS portal.Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convenor, Career Counselling and Placement Cell, highlighted the importance of conducting career awareness programmes and expressed the hope that the knowledge shared by the resource persons shall enable the students to take benefit of various self employment schemes offered by the Government.The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Pankaj Gupta.A large number of students, faculty and Committee members of Career Counselling and Placement Cell of GDC, Kathua, including Prof. Jasvinder Singh, Prof. Shub Kumar, Dr. Shubh Kumar, Dr. Anupma Arora, Prof. Neha Mahajan , Dr. Verinder Singh,  Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Dr. Renu , Prof. Kamaldeep Singh , Prof. Nisha bhagat, Dr. Ram Krishan attended the Workshop through digital mode.
