A team of enforcement wing of FCS&CA, Srinagar led by Deputy Director, Mohammed Akbar Bhat has realised a fine of Rs. 1.5 lac as fine from petrol/diesel pumps, shopkeepers and mutton sellers during inspection for violating different provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act.During inspection, the Deputy Director reviewed the compliance of instructions issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir regarding the rationing of petroleum products including diesel, petrol and LPG as ordered after the closure of National Highway.The enforcement team on the occasion inspected the petrol and diesel pumps at Batamaloo, Polo View, Dalgate and Sonwar areas besides, Gas Agency at Sonwar. The Deputy Director instructed the petrol pump owners and Gas agencies to ensure strict adherence of the directions issued regarding the rationing of petroleum products.Similarly, to check illegal profiteering and overcharging by shopkeepers and mutton sellers, the enforcement team conducted market checking at various locations across Srinagar.During the drive, the market checking team fined the violators and lodged FIR against a couple of shopkeepers at Shergarhi Bazar while seven shops were sealed yesterday.The Deputy Director warned that strict action shall be taken against the traders found involved in illegal practices. He added that the market checking drive will continue across Kashmir division.Regarding the rationing of petrol and diesel distribution, he said this order will continue to remain in force till the weather improves and the National Highway is restored completely.
