'Vacant posts of Social Security Department to be filled soon'

Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Aruna Chaudhary categorically said that continuing our efforts to provide jobs to the youngsters; various vacant posts would be filled in the Social Security, Women and Child Development under the Chief Minister's ambitious Ghar-Ghar Rozgar Mission.Highlighting the details of providing employment in the department, the minister said that we have recruited 88 Clerks and 78 Supervisors in 2019 and 2020, respectively through Punjab State Subordinate Services Selection Board. Likewise, 2 District Social Security Officer (DSSOs), 1 Supdt. Home and 1 Manager (Braille Press) have been recruited through Punjab Public Services Commission in 2019. 316 Aaganwadi workers promoted as a Supervisor and 20 Clerks promoted as Senior Assistant recently. Apart from these, 4 DSSOs, 2 Superintendent Grade-1 and 23 Superintendent Grade-2 were promoted from their lower cadre.The Cabinet Minister said that the department is restructuring the different posts by surrendering or abolishing the existing posts. Under restructuring, relevant posts like technical, legal, etc. will be created. 

"Backlog of vacancies for the handicapped in various government departments, out of 899 backlog vacancies in all groups, 686 posts are filled and concerned departments are instructed to fill balance 213 posts", added Mrs. Chaudhary.She said that the state government has introduced 4% reservation in government jobs for the persons with disabilities. "As the government announced to provide one lakh jobs to the youth of the state this year, about four thousand government jobs will be given to Divyangs", she said, adding that in addition, the government is providing subsidized loans to Divyang people to enable them to be self reliant.Mrs. Chaudhary expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh for providing 33 per cent reservation to women in government jobs and 50% reservation in the elections of local bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions. She said that the state government would soon provide one lakh jobs in the public sector, wherein 33 per cent reservation for women to be completely ensured.The Minister said that the government has fixed roster points for giving 33% reservation to women in government jobs and the department has appointed a Nodal Officer of Joint Director level to verify/vet the roster points pertaining to various departments.
