To give a major impetus to the overall development of the Phillaur sub-division, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Thursday visited Phillaur and held marathon meetings with the concerned officials besides visiting prominent industries in the town.The Deputy Commissioner, who spent more than seven hours in Phillaur, reviewed projects under Urban Environment Improvement Program (UEIP), Smart Village Campaign (SVC), and other pro-people schemes of the state government amounting to Rs. 28.59 Crore.He asked officials to ensure timely completion of these projects to ensure holistic development of the town as these projects include uplifting of road infrastructure, sewage schemes, and many more.The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was duty-bound to serve the people by ensuring the benefit of various schemes launched by the state government so that they do not face any sort of inconvenience.He said that these projects would prove game-changers to transform the lives and destiny of people residing in this town. 

Ghanshyam Thori also had back to back meetings with the officials at SDM Phillaur office and asked SDM Phillaur Dr Vineet Kumar to personally monitor all the pending projects on a daily basis.He said that the sole motive of the meetings was to further propel the pace of work and warned officials any sort of callousness in serving the people was unwanted and undesirable.The Deputy Commissioner also visited the model village Sanghe Khalsa, where he hailed the efforts of the village Panchayat to transform this village into a smart village. He gave a cheque of Rs one lakh to the panchayat. He called upon other Panchayats to follow the footprints of Sanghe Khalsa Panchayat which has ensured development of the village.Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner also visited the food processing unit of Cremica and automobile industry GNA, where he exhorted the heads of units to provide maximum job opportunities to the local youths.He solicited support of the local industries to make Ghar-Ghar Rojgar Yojna, a mega success in the district by offering ample employment opportunities to unemployed youths.The deputy commissioner also visited the Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan and oversaw activities being carried out by the organization including organic farming, dairy projects and others.
