In a major breakthrough, the district police have arrested six gangsters with a recovery of eight pistols, ammunition, cars and motorcycles from them.Disclosing this here today, Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal said that these accused had been identified as Pranav Sehgal of Vikas Nagar, Rahon Road Nawan Shahr, Rajat of Kirti Nagar Hoshiarpur, Jasmeet Singh @ Lucky of Raipur in Hoshiarpur, Sunil Kumar of Hajipur in Garhshankar and Varinderjeet Singh of Bassi Jana, Hoshiarpur. He said that the consecutive operations of district police against gangsters would certainly deter criminals leading to crime control besides tracing some other cases too.Divulging further details, the SSP mentioned that accused Pranav Sehgal is only 20-years old, who was arrested by the CIA Inspector Shiv Kumar besides seizing two illegal pistols, five live cartridges and a motorcycle from him. He said that the CIA police nabbed Pranav Sehgal @ Paru and Rajat on November 8 from Bassi Maroof following which an FIR had been registered at Hariana police station under section 506 of IPC, 25 Arms Act. 

The SSP said that the accused was wanted in a murder case of owner of Sodhi Car Bazaar, Dasuya and in three cases of attempt to murder registered in SBS Nagar including a case of firing on an NRI during a Kabaddi cup.Mahal pointed out that Pranav was working closely under Rakesh Khatri @ Sonu Khatri of Balachaur, who is also a wanted criminal in several cases.The SSP stated that SHO Bullowal arrested Lucky, Sunil Kumar @ Monu Gujjar and Paramjit Singh @ Pamma from village Chakowal Brahmna, who are the close aide of notorious gangster Ravi Balachauria. During investigation, the police also recovered five illegal pistols, 22 live cartridges, 50 gms heroin and a Honda City car from them. An FIR has been registered u/s 21-61-85 NDPS Act & 25 Arms Act in Bullowal police station. Accused Lucky and Sunil Kumar @ Monu Gujjar were already wanted in attempt to murder case and NDPS Act case and cases of multiple murder cases and other heinous crimes had already been registered against them. Accused Pamma was on bail since September 28, 2020 in a case of a police officer’s son.Likewise, the Model Town police have arrested Varinderjeet Singh@ Sabi recovering a pistol from him, who was wanted in attempt to murder case of firing at Rajdhani Transport office, Bus Stand Hoshiarpur. An FIR has been registered u/s336, 506 of IPC and 25 Arms Act.
