Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi Sports and NRI Affairs Minister addressed Global NRI COORDINATORS meeting, which was hosted by Manjit Singh Nijjar, senior Nri Coordinator from UK and participated by Mr. Kripa Shankar Saroj IAS Additional Chief Secretary Department of NRI Affairs , S. DPS Kharbanda, IAS Commissioner cum Special Secretary Department of NRI Affairs and S.Amardeep Singh Rai, ADGP NRI Punjab Police.Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi appealed to NRI’s all over the world to contribute towards betterment of Punjab. He told that Punjab has suffered a lot in the past and currently facing problems like Covid19 pandemic, anti farmer bills agitation and need contribution from NRI’s to boost its economic prospects .He added that he is currently working with the Chief Minister of Punjab to woo NRI’s and the rest of the world to Invest in Punjab. For that, very soon, Punjab Government is going to constitute an Investment and Sponsorship Committee consisting of NRI’s that will work to bring Foreign Investments and Sponsorships for sportspersons.
NRI’s all over the world are the face of Punjab and can inspire the rest of the world to bring investments in Punjab. He further added that If NRIs can do well abroad, they can also do same for Punjab. For that NRI Affairs Department and Invest Punjab together will formulate policy and make NRI Coordinators award about which sectors NRI’s and rest of world can invest.He also added that the Government is currently working on Digitization of revenue records to protect NRI properties so that no one can sell and take information of their properties without their consent.ADGP RAI said that to deal with NRI complaints, NRI Police Stations are already working and he is always available and can be contacted any time by NRI’s if their matter required urgent attention.Nri Dept. website has been updated with country wise web pages for NRIs to contact with Nri Coordinators.Manjit Singh Nijjar and Karan Randhawa have already embarked on industrial collaborations for economic boost and job creation in Punjab.
