SKUAST Jammu launches 2nd chapter of 2 month Training Program for Agri start-ups

Two months agri-entrepreneurship Start up training program was today inaugurated, here at Agri-Business Incubator, SKUAST Jammu.Vice Chancellor, Prof. J.P Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion.In his message, Prof. Sharma briefed about the important role of innovation and entrepreneurship in the elevation of the agricultural sector and its various stakeholders. He exhorted the young entrepreneurs to think outside the box and come up with unique creative ideas for establishment of their start ups. He advised the participants to have an informative and interactive two months training programme.The training program is sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India and is being organized by Agri Business Incubator, SKUAST-J housed at the Division of Agricultural Economics & ABM. The program has innovation and entrepreneurship development as its main components. The training programme will focus on Agribusiness startups and will be instrumental in providing them a unique platform that will act as a launch-pad to give wings to their creative and critical thinking abilities in providing innovative solutions for today’s market needs.Earlier, Dr.Jyoti Kachroo, Prof. & Head and P.I, R-ABI Jammu briefed about the RKVY-RAFTAAR Project highlighting Udgam (Agri-preneurship Orientation Programme/Pre seed stage funding) and Pragati (Seed stage funding programme) as Grant in aid to start-ups. She also discussed the training pedagogy and major focus areas to be covered during the training programme and shared in brief the success stories of previously held training programmes thereby encouraging the participants to have an interactive training for gaining both theoretical and practical knowledge about key areas related to agri-entrepreneurship. She assured the participants of complete support from the Agri Business Incubator in providing relevant training and mentorship to facilitate the establishment of their respective start ups. Statutory officers of the University along with Heads of various divisions were also present during the programme.The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. S.P Singh & Dr. Anil Bhat (Asst. Prof. and Co-P.Is). Business Executives, Mr. Ashish Kumar Isher and Tarunjeet Singh facilitated the online streaming of the programme. Programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Sudhakar Swivedi, Associate Prof. & Co-P.I of the Project.
