Solutions to the eye problems of premature babies, children, grown up and elderly is now available under single roof at Sangam Netralaya.Padmashree awardee Prof. Amod Gupta, Dean PGI and Head, Department of Ophthalmology inaugurated the hospital.Speaking on the occasion retina specialist Dr. Rajeev Gupta, who has to his credit thirty thousand procedures related to retinal diseases (angiographies, lasers and OCT Scans) and also high volume retinal detachment surgeries in north India, said that the Sangam Netralaya is a joint venture of four ophthalmologists with vast experience in their respective specialties."The team consists of three doctors who have earlier worked in PGI and one is from Sankaranethralaya Chennai - the premier eye institute of nation. Such an experienced faculty under one roof is non existent in most of hospitals in the private sector," he said.

Cataract Surgeon Dr. Gagandeep Singh Brar, who has to his credit more than 30000 surgeries, added that tricity has patients that need super specialties' intervention like the cases of cataract, retina, cornea, glaucoma, uveitis and pediatric (children) ophthalmology. "We are the only one in private sector to have experts for the same under one roof," he said.Talking about comprehensive eye care services, cornea specialist Dr. Ashish Ahuja who specializes in corneal cross linking treatment for keratoconus and corneal transplant surgeries, said that all forms of simple and complicated cataract surgeries, multifocal and toric lenses, vitreo-retina services, uveitis clinic, corneal transplant, dry eye management, LASIK laser, glaucoma management are available at Sangam Netralaya.He added that the surgery and consultation charges are very affordable for the masses."We want to reach out to people and give them maximum relief from eye problems," said pediatric retina specialist Dr. Gaurav Sanghi who specializes in screening and treatment of retinopathy in premature babies. He added that the prematurely born babies need thorough eye check up and treatment, which is rarely available in tricity.
