Workshop on ICT Tools and Generation of e-Content organized at GDC Baramulla

A daylong workshop on ‘Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Tools and Generation of e-Content’ was today organised at Government Degree College Baramulla.The workshop was conducted in line with the vision of Digital transformation of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) initiated by the J&K Higher Education Department and GDC Baramulla in Collaboration with Directorate of ITSS, University of Kashmir.In this backdrop Government Degree College, Baramulla solicited the services of professionals from University of Kashmir, Srinagar and organized a hands-on training session to equip the faculty of the host college with ICT tools, more specially, the use of Microsoft Whiteboard to facilitate their teaching-learning enterprise.The guest speakers for the occasion were Salib Shafi Khan and Mansoor Ahmed Dhar, Network Engineers, Directorate of IT&SS, University of Kashmir, Srinagar.The programme was presided over by the Principal of the college, Prof. Mohammad Maqbool Rather.Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rather emphasized on the significance and importance of ICT based tools in the teaching-learning process. He stressed upon the faculty members to be acquainted with these modern tools and upgrade themselves with the technological advancements.Two separate sessions were conducted where the faculty members were demonstrated with the functionality of the smart board systems and the usage of the same for the generation of e-content.Later threadbare discussions were held wherein doubts and queries raised by the faculty were satisfactorily answered and responded by the guest speakers.Prof. A. M. Chalkoo, Convener, IQAC and Coordinator TEP said that the idea behind conducting this and other such sessions is to prepare the teaching faculty for alternate/virtual mode of teaching in the face of challenges triggered by COVID-19 pandemic and other imminent or distant pandemics.
