Transport Minister Bikram Singh reviews activities of HRTC

Transport Minister Bikram Singh reviewed the activities of Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) here today. Vice Chairman HRTC Vijay Agnihotri was also present in the meeting.Transport Minister directed the officers to prepare detailed work plan for bringing more efficiency and improvement in operations of HRTC.  He said that the public transport system of other states should be studied and innovative solutions should be implemented.Transport Minister said the publicity of various schemes of the Corporation should be ensured so that people could avail the benefit and better services are provided to them.Bikram Singh said the old ticketing machines of the HRTC would soon be replaced with 4500 new Electronic Bus Ticketing Machines (EBTMs), with an expenditure of Rs. 15 crore. These machines would be based on new information technology. He said that driving training schools are being run by the Corporation in Hamirpur, Rampur, Nalagarh, Kullu, Sarkaghat, Bilaspur, Chamba, Jasur, Mandi and Taradevi and generating annual income of about Rs. 50 lakh.Transport Minister said the work of Modern Institute of Driving Training and Research at Sarkaghat with a cost of Rs. 12.50 crore is under progress. Corporation was plying eight Tempo Traveller and 12 Tavera taxis in Shimla town and two taxis in Solan under 'Ride With Pride' in dry lease basis to facilitate the commuters.Chairman HRTC Vijay Agnihotri gave valuable suggestions on this occasion.Managing Director HRTC Yunus detailed about various activities of the Corporation.Principal Secretary Transport K. K. Pant, Executive Director Anupam Kashyap and senior officers of the Corporation were also present in the meeting.
