A KGBV (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya) school building in Ruins and become a hub of Drug Abuse in South Kashmir's Mugalpora village of Pulwama district.Talking to 5 Dariya News A young and Renowed Social Activist Mudasir Ahmad Dar told, that KGBV govt school built in our village witnessing massive crowds of young boys are doing immoral Activities in this non Finctional school building located in village.Youth from all nearby areas throng the school building which has become a safe heaven for drug addicts and all kind of “immoral activities.” Mudasir said, Locals told That in the year 2008 a centrally sponsored school KGBV was sanctioned in our village.In June 2008 ,the construction for the building was started at a good pace and in March 2009 a two storey building was constructed out for the same but with a simple structure only lacking doors, windows, and all other interior equipment’s that any school is in need of.They added, from March 2009 upto November 2019 no work was further done on this building, and again work on the building was started and a tender was issued for completion or pending work of KGBV Mugalpora, but worst part of this issue was not taking into account installation of Windows,doors boundary walls of the school and other related things that he was all supposed to do as mentioned in the tender document is still missing, locals alleged.
Villagers said, After that Concerned Education department decided Till the building gets completed in all respects the school will functional on rented building where session could be started and in this regard a building was taken on rent in the same village ,but after some time there arose a dispute between the landlord and the concerned department on some rent issues and for this purpose another building was hired 4 km away in main market Pulwama.we asked officials for completion of the project but nobody has paid attention as of yet,”Residents aghast as they donated their personal 20 kannals of land (Abadiya land) for School and we now feel cursed as to what for they donated their precious land and what is being done to this all, how a learning Center is converted into a Bar like place Mudasir Said,The locals requested the administration especially Education department to look into this matter and resume the pending work of the building and make it functional, so that this menace of drug addiction in the area could be stopped.Sources in Education department told, they have lack of funds is the reason for this all,and this issue will be addressed very soon.

What KGBV school : The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya or KGBV is a residential girls’ secondary school run by the Government of India for the weaker sections in India was launchedJuly 2004 . The plan was introduced by the Government of India in August 2004. It was then integrated into the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan program, to provide educational facilities for girls belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, minority communities and families below the poverty line in Educationally Backward Blocks.
