Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori today directed the officers of the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) and Local Government to ensure strict compliance of the timelines for the completion of ongoing projects under Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program (PUEIP).Chairing a meeting to review the pace of ongoing development works in the second phase of Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program (PUEIP) as a part of ‘Mission Fateh’ to ensure resurgence of state during ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, the Deputy Commissioner said that under the phase I of the PUEIP development works worth Rs 34 crore were allotted for the urban areas of the district which included Rs 21 crore for the Municipal Corporation and Rs 13 crore for the Municipal Committees adding that now in the second phase this share has been enhanced to Rs 78 crore including Rs 50 crore for the Municipal Corporation and Rs 28.5 crore for the committees. He directed the officers to ensure strict compliance of the timelines for the completion of ongoing projects under the scheme. Mr. Thori said that there should be no delay in submission of Phase-II projects to state government for funding since the required funds for the same had already been approved by the Chief Minister.The Deputy Commissioner asked the officers of the Urban Local Bodies to submit the estimates of these developmental works at the earliest. He said that these funds would give a major impetus to the overall development of the urban areas of the district. Mr. Thori asked the Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vishesh Sarangal to regularly monitor the progress of the scheme adding that the main motive of the scheme was to ensure comprehensive development of the urban areas of the district on one hand and improve the living standard of residents on the other. On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vishesh Sarangal, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Rahul Sindhu, Mr. Gautam and Mr. Jai Inder Singh, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jalandhar Ms. Inaayat and others were also present.
