MP, MLAs, Chairmen and administration agree for further strict enforcement of lockdown

Shops to open from 7am to 6 pm during week days with mandatory social distancing and masks

Keeping in view larger public interest the district administration would further ensure strict enforcement of lockdown from 7 pm to 7 am in the morning for safeguarding the people from the Covid 19 pandemic.A decision to this effect was taken during meeting in which Lok Sabha Member Chaudhary Santokh Singh,MLAs Mr Pargat Singh, Mr Sushil Kumar Rinku, Mr Rajinder Beri, Mr Hardev Singh Laddi and Mr Avtar Singh Bawa Henry, Chairman of Punjab State Technical Education Board  Mr Mohinder Singh Kay Pee, Chairman Punjab State Water Resources Management Corporation Mr Jagbir Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal were present.During the meeting it was decided that the shops remain open in the district during 7 am to 6 pm adding that strict enforcement of lockdown would be ensured from 6 pm to 7 pm. The MP, MLAs and Chairmen asked the Deputy Commissioner , Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police to ensure strict enforcement of the lockdown. They said that the danger of Corona Virus was not fully over and maximum precaution should be taken to save the lives of people. 

They also said that people must be persuaded and encouraged to follow the social distancing norms so that the spread of Corona Virus was checked effectivelyTaking part in deliberations, the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police informed the MP, MLAs and Chairmen that the administration was already sensitive on the issue and strict action was being ensured against those people who were loitering around in the city without any reasons. They apprised the political leaders administration was also acting sternly against those people who were violating lockdown norms by not wearing the mask. The officers also apprised that except Sunday there was no restriction on opening of shops in the district from 7 am to 6 pm.  They said that on the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh the district Administration was committed for saving the lives of people on one hand and to give fillip to economic activity during the lockdown on the other.In the meeting Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Balkar Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr Amit Kumar, Mr Rahul Sindhu, Mr Sanjiv Sharma, Mr Jai Inder Singh and Mr Vineet Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Mr Harpreet Singh, Epidemiologist Dr Satish, District Food and Supplies Controller Mr Narinder Singh and others were also present.
