Agriculture Department Forms 10 Teams To Keep Check On Paddy Seed Dealers, Profiteers To Face Strict Action

The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department on Saturday has set up 10 field level teams to keep check on the seed  dealers of paddy crop in the district following the complaints of overcharging and profiteering from the farmers.The teams led by Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Surinder Singh  along with Agriculture Officer Dr Naresh Gulati and others visited various areas on Saturday and asked the farmers to complaint the department immediately about the overcharging by the dealers.  They told them to procure only certified seeds from the authorized dealers and collect the bill of the purchase.They told that the field level teams would keep a close eye over the profiteers who were trying to mint profit in this hour of crisis and said the department is duty bound to check any such malpractice and would not accept this type of profiteering at any cost. They asked the seed dealers to sell the seeds on the fixed rates and not to involve in any kind of hoarding or profiteering.They said that severest action would be taken against those dealers found indulged in overcharging of the seeds.
