The entire government machinery has been pressed into the service for the public to provide ration and medicine during the curfew imposed in the district to contain the spread of Covid-19. This was stated in a press release issued today by Deputy Commissioner Muktsar M. K. Aravind Kumar. He stated that now the process of providing edibles and medicines for the public has been streamlined and now they are focusing their attention to keep people at home to maintain social distancing. He said that all the senior officers are working round the clock to address the grievances of the public directly and also through the District Control Room where 50 government employees are answering public queries.About identifying a suspected case of Corona Virus in Malout, he said that though sample of the patient has been obtained but the report is still awaited. “We have adopted a pro-active approach for any positive case and have done elaborate arrangements for the treatment of any such patient across the district,” the Deputy Commissioner said.He also said that as of now everything is under control and no case of Corona-Virus is reported from any part of the district and different teams of health and police department are closely monitoring every situation. Incharge of District Control Room P.S. Dhanju said that decline of phone calls are witnessed at control room due to the efforts initiated by the district administration. He said that the employees at control room are deployed round the clock and 15 telephone lines are opened to answer public queries. He informed that on Tuesday 400 phone calls were received till 2pm while this number tumbled down to 250 today (Wednesday) which shows that the problems faced by public in curfew too are nose-diving. He pointed out that the authorities are also taking strict action on hoax callers who are still not desisting from making purposeless phone calls.
