As Mercury dips in Valley Fresh snowfall has been recieved in Upper reaches especially world famous Ski Resort Gulmarg in North Kashmir while as Rains lash plains in Kashmir on Thursday.Upper reaches of Phalgam at Southern Kashmir including chandanwari received light snowfall Amatnath cave Pnajterni and Sheshnag received light to moderate snowfall resulting chill whether.Parts of valley including Kokernag,Qazigund the gateway of Kashmiri and kupwara received mixture of Rain and Snow in early morning.Spokesperson at MET ( Metrological Department Srinagar) said, wet weather will remain occur in next 24 hours due Active western disturbance in region.He further added that after friday whether will improve in Saturday onwards in valley.During the night the mercury improved 2 degree from Wednesday and settled at minus 2.2 degree, which is 1.5 degree above normal. he said,Incessitant Rains caused Water-logging at several places in Summer capital Srinagar while the pedestrians had to walk difficult on roads.Srinagar recorded rainfall of 12.6 mm of rainfall from 0830 hours (March 11) to 5:30 hours on Thursday while as Pahalgam, kokernag and Qazigund in south Kashmir received 16.6mm, 14.6 and 14.4mm downpour respectively since 0830 hours till 1730 hours today.MeT official said,The Srinagar Jammu National highway was closed due to landslides at kheri udampur resulting stranded hundreds of vehicles.The men and machinery are on Job to restore the highway as soon as possible A traffic official while talking to 5 Dariya news.The snowfall disrupts the efforts to restore the highway and the traffic from jammu and Srinagar were stopped at Nagrota and Qazigund respectively l.Meanwhile MeT office has forecasted more rainfall in next 24hours and said it will improve from friday.
