The Union Minister of State for Food and Public Distribution System (PDS) Mr. Rao Saheb Patil Danve today visited the office and godowns of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) situated at Sirhind Road here.Interacting with the media persons on the occasion, the Union Minister said that the Union Government is fully aware of the problems pertaining to the storage in the godowns of Punjab. So, work is on to increase storage in the State. He also said that 31 silos would come up in Punjab and tenders have been floated concerning 21 of these.Mr. Rao Saheb Patil Danve further added that Punjab is the food bowl of the nation, So, it would be ensured that it encounters no problem. He also divulged that the storage of FCI is also being expanded and besides this, the godowns are also being constructed. The Union Government is also fully focusing on the storage of rice in Punjab. He also paid a visit to the FCI godowns and interacted with the officers, employee unions and other organizations. He also planted a sapling on the occasion.Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included General Manager FCI Mr. Arshdeep Singh Thind, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit, Deputy General Manager FCI Mr. Mehar Singh, District Manager Mr. Akaash Kumar, SP Traffic Mr. Palwinder Singh Cheema, Mr. Ravinder Singh Ginni Dhillon from BJP Pradesh Kisan Cell, District President Mr. Harinder Kohli, Mr. Tribhuvan Gupta, Mr. Tarsem Saini and scores of representatives of the unions, employees and officers.
