The residents of Madar village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday staged a protest against Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair their damaged transformer from last one month.According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the protesters blocked the vehicular movement on the Mini Secretariat-Madar road to press for their demands. The protesters said that the PDD officials didn’t pay heed to their grievances, leaving the villagers to lurch at large.“For the last one month, there was no electricity in the village as the transformer installed in the area developed technical snag,” they said, adding that one month elapsed, but unfortunately, the PDD has failed to resolve the issues of villagers.Alleging PDD department of turning blind eye towards the issue, the residents here have demanded immediate redressal of their issues.Meanwhile, locals appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to look into the matter and resolve their issues at an earliest so that they can have a sigh of relief. Moreover, the movement of traffic remained disrupted and a long traffic jam was witnessed in the area during the protest. However, the traffic was allowed to ply only after the Assistant Executive Engineer PDD Bandipora Reyaz Ahmad reached the spot and assured the villagers that their grievance will be resolved soon.
