Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Wednesday said that anti-militancy operations were stepped up in Southern districts and that militants were feeling heat. He said in the days ahead, more anti-militancy operations will be launched in South Kashmir. He said in the past one week, security forces conducted six successful operations in which top commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit were killed.Talking to reporters on the sidelines of wreath laying function at DPL Srinagar here, the DGP said that anti-militancy operations have been intensified in all districts of South Kashmir that’s why there is frustration in militant ranks. “It is because of the stepped up anti-militancy operations that militants are feeling heat in South Kashmir,” he said. The J&K police had organized a wreath laying ceremony for the slain SoG man who was killed at Khrew encounter on Tuesday.“You will see more anti-militancy operations in the days ahead,” he said as per the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). On the preparations for the upcoming R-day functions in the Valley, the DGP said that all the security arrangements are in place. “Every measure has been taken to ensure smooth R-day functions across Kashmir,” he said.Asked whether police was using drones in Srinagar and elsewhere, the DGP said that drones are being used by the police everywhere in the country. “J&K police is using drones as a technical aid. Drones help us to see activities of anti-peace elements in lanes and by-lanes,” he said. (KNO)
