District Development Commissioner (DDC)Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan today chaired a meeting of members of District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) under NRDWP (Jal Jeevan Mission).The meeting was attended by ADC Farooq Ahmad Baba, CPO, executive engineers of PHE, Mechanical, I&FC and RWS, Division Ganderbal, CMO, CEO, DPO, DIO and other concerned officers. During the meeting, the DDC sought details regarding the achievements recorded under Jal Jeevan Mission in the district.It was also given out that out of total 40915 households 24363 have been covered, under the scheme, in the district so far with100 percent coverage of households in Safapora block.The DDC asked the concerned to cover unconnected households of six blocks of the district by this March.The meeting also discussed the function and responsibility of the DWSM Committee. It was informed that the committee is responsible for formulation, management and monitoring of projects besides monitoring progress on drinking water security and sanitation in rural areas.It was given out that the committee is responsible for selection of agencies and NGOs. It can also enter into agreements for social mobilization, capacity development, communication project management and supervision besides sensitizing public representatives, officials and the people regarding NRDWP.
