District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today convened a meeting with the concerned officers to finalise the arrangements to be put in place for the smooth celebration of National Voters Day which will be celebrated on 25 January, 2020.During the meeting, it was highlighted that the theme of this year's National Voters Day shall be 'Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy'.The meeting discussed arrangements being made by different Departments to mark the Day in detail. It was given out that various functions will be held at district, constituency and booth levels in which Officers, general public, civil society members, senior citizens, representatives of NGOs and others shall participate.It was decided during the meeting that at booth level Block Level Officers (BLO) shall facilitate the newly registered voters in a brief ceremony. They will also make the PWD voters aware of various facilities available for them at the polling stations such as ramps, wheelchairs, volunteers etc.NVD pledge ceremony by all government departments, private organisations and other institutions shall also be organised on the occasion.
Similarly at ARO and AERO level, the concerned ARO and AERO shall organise NVD function at subdivision/Tehsil HQ. Special campaign for inclusion of female electors will also be launched for maximum enrollment of women.It was also decided that at district level, NVD will be celebrated at District HQ in association with Panchayats organizations, Academic institutions, civil society groups, organizations of youth volunteers like NSS,NCC,NYK etc. Rallies for future voters and new voters in schools and colleges shall be organised at District HQ.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the main aim of the celebration of the day is to increase public participation in election process by 100%. He directed the officers to maintain coordination to make National Voters Day celebrations a success.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Sher Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Benhal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kalakote, Ved Prakash, Additional Deputy Commissioner Koteranka, Subdivisional Magistrate Thanamandi, Mohd Tanveer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf, Deputy District Election Officer, Rizwan Asgar, District Panchayat Officer, Dr. Abdul Khabir, Chief Education Officer, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Inzar Rana concerned tehsildars and others.
