Brig.(Retd) Satinder Singh Director Sainik Welfare Punjab Chandigarh and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh along with other officers of Sainik Welfare Department,  Punjab & Chandigarh pinned Armed Forces Flag on the Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore to mark the 71st  Armed Forces Flag Day observed at Punjab Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh.Releasing the annual magazine of Punjab Sainik Welfare, the Governor said that our Armed Forces have been serving the Nation with great distinction both during war and peace. This day reminds us of our responsibility towards the Armed Forces for their splendid service and sacrifice for the Motherland. On this day, we also salute the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice and courage."As a mark of gratitude to our soldiers' unflinching valour, let us pledge to contribute towards the welfare of their families", said the Governor. He exhorted all the citizens to demonstrate their benevolence and patriotism by contributing to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. He also urged the officers to ensure rehabilitation of war widows, disabled defence personnel and Ex-servicemen and make the Armed Forces Flag Day a great success.According to the Director Sainik Welfare Punjab, Brig Satinder Singh "Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated on December 7, every year. However, as this year December 7 was a Saturday (holiday) , it was decided by Hon'ble Raksha Mantri to celebrate one week as  'Armed Forces Flag Day 2019' from December 2-8, 2019. Accordingly the traditional pinning ceremony of Armed Forces Flag was held in Chandigarh  on December 8, 2019".
