Emphasizing the need of quality education, Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker Rana K.P. Singh said that no country and society in the world could strive towards better future without education.Addressing an annual function organized at Gillco International School Sector-127, the Chief Guest, Rana K.P. Singh said that once Swami Vivekananda had said that if we want to eliminate poverty and backwardness from our country, we must invest our resources for the sake of education for our younger generations. "Education field is very vast and the government can't deliver alone, hence the role of the private sector is also become important", he said, adding that currently, 53 lakh children have been studying in schools of the state, out of them 28 lakh students studying in government and 25 lakh in private schools as well.Underlining the need of preparing the children for today's cut and throat competitive era, the Speaker said that if education is must, then it is also important that education should be qualitative, which could keep the children up to date. Referring to the United States Former President Mr. Abraham Lincoln quote "the philosophy of the school room in one generation, will be the philosophy of government in the next'' and First Black President of South Africa Mr. Nelson Mandela's quote "education is the most powerful instrument for changing the world", he said that equal participation of the three parties i.e. management & teachers, parents and children itself is essential for overall development of the child and without equal participation of these three, the potential of the child can't be channelize on the path of progress.Describing teaching a noble profession, Rana K.P. Singh said that this is not just a profession of livelihood rather a teacher with his services can make great contribution towards building of the nation and this is possible only if the teacher has a sense of commitment and dedication. He said that large building and good infrastructure alone can't perform anything, but the commitment and dedication of teachers must in this direction. He said that many of the world's greatest personalities were studied in common schools but the commitment of their teachers led them to path of progress.Earlier, the school children fascinated the audience with their incredible cultural program, while M.D. Mr. Ranjit Singh Gill welcomed the Chief Guest.
