Vigilance nabs 8 officials in 8 bribery cases during Sept

State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing crusade against corruption, has been able to nab 8 employees red handed while accepting bribes in 8 different trap cases during the month of September, which includes 4 police personnel and 4 employees from other departments.Disclosing this, Chief Director-cum-ADGP vigilance bureau Punjab B.K. Uppal said the VB has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere during the period. In this direction, the vigilance officers have ensured that suspect did not escape judicial punishment in the various courts in the State, he added.He said the Bureau has submitted challans pertaining to 9 vigilance cases in various special courts in the last month. Apart from this, 6 vigilance enquires (VEs) have also been registered against public servants to probe the corruption cases thoroughly. Apart from this, one case has been registered for amassing disproportionate assets.Giving more details, he informed that special court have decided one bribery case filed and contested by the Bureau during the last month, in which Prem Saran Bansal, Store Keeper at Civil Surgeon Office, Roopnagar, was convicted and sentenced with 3 years imprisonment and fine of Rs. 10,000/- by the Addl. District and Session Judge, Roopnagar.
