The Punjab government would consider the proposal of extending retirement age of doctors working under ayush from 58 to 65 years. It was disclosed by Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Health and Family Welfare Minister in his keynote address after inaugurating the three day stale level Arogya Mela at SAS Nagar here today.Addressing the gathering at the programme which was being organized at the Puda Bhawan Ground in front of Gurudwara Sri Amb Sahib, the Minister said that Health and Education are the core areas of priority for the Punjab Government. He said that Health Department was working overnight to provide quality health services to the citizen of the state. He said that most of the vacant posts in health department had been filled and the process to fill the remaining vacant posts was underway. He said that the retirement age of doctors working in Ayush Department would be extended from 58 to 65 years.While highlighting the motive of Arogya Mela Mr. Sidhu said that Ayurved, Homeopathy and Unani were our traditional ways of treatment. He said that many of chronic diseases had cure only in these methods of treatment. The Minister said that under the Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna till date 35 lakh cards had been issued, whereas 22 thousands patients had availed the service of free treatment.Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Commissioner Ayush while delivering his address said that in Punjab 569 Ayurvedic, 99 Homeopathic and 33 Unani dispensaries had been providing health services to the citizen. Political Secretary to Health Minister, Mr. Harkesh Chand Machlikalan also addressed the gathering.Among other dignitaries who were present on this occasion included Mr. Anurag Aggarwal Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Rakesh Sharma Director Ayush, Dr. B.K. Kaushik Vice Chancellor Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University Hoshiarpur and Dr. Sanjeev Goyal Registrar Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University Hoshiarpur.
