Patiala Postal Division has organized a District Level Philatelic Exibition ‘PATIALA PEX-2019’ on 12th and 13th October, 2019 at Harpal Tiwana Centre for performing arts, Nabha Road, Patiala on Gandhian Theme.Dr.(Prof.) B.S. Ghuman, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala was the Chief Guest on closing ceremony of the Exhibition, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Mishra, Director Postal Services (HQ), Punjab Circle, Chandigarh was the Special Guest and Dr. Jagpreet Singh, Head Master, Punjab Public School, Nabha was the Guest of Honour who appreciated the event as well.About 40 frames were put for display of stamps collections of Mahatma Gandhi by the renowned philatelists & students.Selfie points were showcased at the exhibition as Special attraction in which most of the people who attended exhibition took their photographs as a memory. Efforts were also made to keep the event single use plastic free as an initiative to give the message of swacchta abhiyan and people also took Pledge to do away with the single use plastic by taking selfie with the pledge. A small act on Swachhta was also played by the students of Punjabi University, Patiala.In order to promote the Gandhi Ji’s motto of SWADESHI and his teachings of self-supporting and self contained unit, a special stall as an platform was also provided to the Self help group of Patiala and the products made by them were also showcased during the exhibition.Besides this, cultural programme was also organized which included folk item Giddha during the exhibition.Hon’ble guests distributed the certificates and prizes to Philatelists and students. The exhibition came to end at 17:00 hours and gave residents of Patiala and surrounding areas an opportunity to mesmerize Mahatma Gandhi through the lens of stamps.
