 "The Punjab Khadi and Gram Udyog Board is committed to provide job avenues to the youth of State. During current year, the board has fixed a target of setting up 2000 units throughout Punjab which would give employment opportunities to the youth." These views were expressed here today by the Chairperson of the board Mrs. Mamta Dutta at Punjab Bhawan on the occasion of Pushpanjali Samaroh held in commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.The Chairperson said that the board is active since 60 years to provide employment opportunities to the youth. The board is running projects worth Rs. 25 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Utpatti Yojna of Central Khadi Gram Udyog Commission. The general category is being given financial benefits at the rate of 25 percent whereas the percentage for SC/ST, OBC, Women, Ex Servicemen, Divyang people, Minorities and border area residents is 35. Under the scheme, a loan of Rs. 35 lakh is also available for the service sector enterprises.The Chairperson also said that the jobless youth of the State have been given loans to the tune of Rs.250 crore with the assistance of Board, Khadi Commission and other agencies including Rs. 63 Crore worth subsidy. The Khadi Board is also focusing on generating employment avenues in the rural sector. The board through help the K. V. I. entrepreneurs market their products via retail and e-commerce channels.It is worth mentioning that during the function held today, various entrepreneurs receiving aid from the board also showcased their products and counted their success stories. The highlight of the function was the skill exhibited on Charkha by the experts of the K. V. I. C.Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included Vice Chairman of the board Mr. Anil Mehta, Member Secretary Mr. K. S. Brar, and newly appointed members. The board office bearers showered rose petals on the photo of Mahatma Gandhi. A rendition of Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram bhajan was also held.
