The District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal Hashmat Ali Khan reviewed the functioning of Government Polytechnic College Hatbura and ITIs at Kangan and Ganderbal here today.The meeting was attended by CPO, Ganderbal, Exen R&B, Principal Polytechnic College, superintendents of both ITIs and other concerned officers.During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on the functioning of both the ITIs and Polytechnic College including infrastructure, courses provided, student intake strength and other facilities in the colleges.The meeting was informed that ITI Kangan has 219 intake capacity, ITI Ganderbal has 250 intake capacity and Polytechnic College Hatbura has 120 intake capacity in Electrical and Civil Engineering courses.After a brief discussion on the courses offered by the Polytechnic College, the DDC suggested the Principal to formulate the action plan for starting other courses which have demand in the market.

Principal Polytechnic College Hatbura raised several issues including staff dearth and public transport facility.The meeting was informed that ITI kangan offers 9 courses and ITI Ganderbal offers 14 courses in different skill development trades including plumber, carpenter, welder, electrician, embroidery etc.  While reviewing the status of placement of pass out students from the colleges, the DDC asked the officials for updating the data of pass out students on concerned official websites.The DDC said that the aim of establishing these colleges is to get students   empowered for the overall development through education and teaching-learning process which is top most priority.During the meeting the DDC urged that the education should be skill oriented with a high degree of precision for the students to face in the competitive field.
