A district level awareness camp on Swachhta-Hi-Sewa was held here today. The week long sanitation drive has already started in the district under which public awareness programmes on single use of plastic, segregation of the plastic waste from the collection points, awareness programme through Masjid Imams, awareness through posters, distribution of hand bills regarding ‘say no to polythene’ is in progress.The DDC also directed the officers/officials of the education, health, ICD, workers of Urban Development department, officials of Development Authorities, Forest, Revenue, PHE & Irrigation to join hands and become part of the sanitation drive. The DDC also directed EOs of MC Anantnag & MCs of Bijbhihara, Achabal, Doru, Kokernag, Mattan, Qazigund, Ashmuqam & Pahalgam to ensure the collection of waste from the areas and dump the same at identified site at Anatnag for segregation and treatment. The BDO’s were also directed to ensure the collection of waste in Rural areas for scientific treatment which will be held on October 2nd , 2019. He also emphased upon the ULB counselors, Panchs, Sarpanches to be part of the sanitation drive to make the district clean under the programme.The DDC also informed that on September 28, 2019 cleanliness drive will be held at Pahalgam for disposal of waste including polythene & plastic in which the department of Education, Health, Revenue, MC Pahalgam & PDA workers will ensure the collection of waste at Sarbal plant to keep the environment of renowned Pahalgam tourist destination pollution free.The ACD Anantnag, Mr. Mohammad Aslam also spoke on the occasion and asked the BDO’s and PRI to involve the general public in the drive.The Awareness camp was also addressed by ADDC, DPO, CEO, JD Planning & other district officrs. A large number of ICD workers, teachewrs, MC workers, Health workers, Panchs, Sarpanchs & ward members were present on the occasion.
