SRINAGAR , 26 Sep 2019

Department Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in collaboration with Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers today organized one-day awareness programme on Plastic Waste management at Banquet Hall here Srinagar.ACDs, DPOs, Xens, BDOs, functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Panchayat Secretaries and members from Self Help Groups (NRLM) of various districts were present on the occasion.The objective of the awareness programme was to familiarize the participants with the latest technological trends in plastic recycling, dissemination of information about plastics realities vis-a-vis environment issues, enhancing the knowledge about plastics waste management issues and effective means of plastics waste management and creating awareness about the latest environmental rules and regulations.The programme was inaugurated by Director Rural Development Kashmir, Qazi Sarwar. The team members of CIPET highlighted pros and cons on plastic waste management through a power point presentation followed by detailed discussions and question-answer session. The instructions were given to field functionaries for the general awareness at grass root level through Gram Panchayats.
