On the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. Shyam Prasad Mukherjee, founder of Jana Sangh, Bhartiya Janata Party Chandigarh launched a Membership Drive as a part of National Event. The Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Minister of Rural Development  Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the drive among the party members gathered in huge numbers, including State President Sanjay Tandon, General Secretary (Org.) Dinesh Kumar, Ex President Satya Pal Jain, Mayor Rajesh Kalia, State Membership Drive Convener Ramvir Bhatti & Co-convener Satinder Singh., General Secretaries Prem Kaushik & Chandrashekhar etc.Sharing information about the program, State Media Incharge Ravindra Pathania said that the event began with welcoming Sh. Narendra Singh Tomar with a welcome note followed by the information and report by Sanjay Tandon on preparations for the drive. A special edition of the magazine by the party for this drive was also made available at the event.Addressing the audience, Sh. Tomar said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has distinguished itself from other political parties with the work and policies based on nationalism, ideology, moral values, strong democracy and social equality whereas other parties are more about power and self-interest. Sharing an example of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said the late Prime Minister chose ethics over power, such selfless act can only be expected from BJP and its members.He continued to describe the party membership as a privilege and said that beginning from 1951 till date the party has been through many rough patches but did not compromise on its ethics and today emerged as  the world's biggest democratic party due to the hard work of our great leaders who did not give up at the face of adversity. Dr Shyam Prasad Mukherjee resigned from the Nehru Cabinet for national interest and raised a movement against the policies of the then government in Kashmir and because of his sacrifice, Kashmir is visible in the map of India.Recalling the contribution of Sh. Pandit Deendayal and talking about Lal Krishna Advani, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National President Amit Shah and senior leaders,  he said, that it is every members responsibility to continue this momentum by adding as many people as possible for national interest. He further said that it is a matter of great honor for him to be a part of the campaign and praised the state leadership for aiming higher than the specified goal of 20%.Speaking on the occasion, state president Sanjay Tandon said, the BJP Chandigarh is aiming to add 1.25 lakh additional members, for which all the party's office bearers and current members are well prepared. He said that for this goal, organizational meetings have also been scheduled from time to time and beginning today till 11th August, all party members will extend support to this campaign and enroll new members via a missed call service on 8980808080 and 89897898907.Membership Chief Ramvir Bhatti said that the party has made complete preparations for the drive and will begin executing the same with immediate effect.
