Adopt preventive measures prior to monsoon to stop spreading of dengue: Deputy Commissioner

Prevention of the spreading of dengue will be the priority of district administration and efforts should be made in this regard prior to the Monsoon Season. These instructions have been issued by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan to the officials of Health Department in a monthly meeting held in District Administrative Complex here today. This meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Mrs. Sakshi Sawhney and Civil Surgeon Dr. Manjit Singh.Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the challans, which were issued after detecting Larva of Aedes Aegypti Mosquito in water coolers and other places. He directed the officials of Health Department and Municipal Corporations/Committees to regularly check the vulnerable places and issued challans and ensure that the district should be free from Dengue by all means. He also instructed the officials to create awareness among citizens regarding Friday- Dry Day program. He said that department should focus on those areas, where officials found Larva. During the meeting, Mr. Dayalan also reviewed the various welfare programs such as The Chief Minister Cancer Relief Fund, RNTCP Program, Tobacco Control Program, National Leprosy Eradication Program, National Viral Hepatitis Control Program, Vector Born Disease Control Program and Sanitation Campaign.

District Vaccination Officer Dr. Veena Jarewal informed that Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDFC) is being observed from 8th to 23rd July under the Health Awareness Campaign, during which the packets of ORS and tablets of Zinc will be provided through Asha workers to children up to the age of 5 Years. Children of Anganwadis and Schools will also been sensitized about the right way to clean hands and sanitation.After reviewing the works of DAPO/Buddy, Transport Department, Punjab Pollution Control Board and the Sewa Kendras, the Deputy Commissioner also inquired from officials about the problems faced by them during duty in the field. He asked the officials to feel free to share the problems being faced by them, which will be resolved amicably.Other dignitaries who were present included Assistant Commissioner Mr. Yashpal Sharma, SDM. Dera Bassi Ms. Puja Siyal, SDM Kharar Mr. Vinod Bansal, SDM Mohali Mr. Jagdeep Sehgal and others.
