The Jalandhar district administration would hold an impressive district level function to mark the International Yoga Day on June 21 at the local DAV Ayurvedic College under the Tandarust Punjab Mission.A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma here at his office in the local District Administrative Complex.Chairing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration would make elaborate arrangements to organize this mega event. He said that said that no stone would be left unturned for ensuring that message of a healthy and progressive Punjab was disseminated through this event. Mr. Sharma said that the Sports, Health, Police, Education and other departments would complete the necessary formalities for ensuring that this event was celebrated in a gala way.The Deputy Commissioner further said yoga was very important for human life as it gives multiple health benefits that includes improving flexibility, builds muscle strength, improves bone health, protects spine, increases blood flow, boosts immunity, improves heart rate, drops blood pressure, improves balance, boosts immune system and many others. He said that the regular practice of yoga helps a lot in ensuring that body remains fit and stress free. Mr. Sharma said that yoga was very essential for a fit body and sound mind. The Deputy Commissioner further said that that the main motive behind organizing the event was to disseminate the message that every person should practice yoga to remain active and healthy. He said that Yoga was not only necessary for good health and hygiene but was also important for maintaining mental and physical equilibrium. On the occasion District Guidance Counselor Mr. Surjit Lal, District Sports Officer Mr. Balwinder Singh, Swimming Coach Mr. Umesh Sharma, Dr. Mehta, Dr. Sondhi and others were also present.
