Uma Shanker is a final year Ph.D. scholar of Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, was invited to attend an International meeting on Epigenetics. This (international) European conference on Agriculture, Horticulture & Epigenetics held at Paris in France. Mr. Uma Shanker delivered a talk as orator on epigenetics alteration in diabetes and its intervention with L-Methionine supplementation. The conference was organized by EuroSciCon.Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) awarded the travel grant of Rs. 1.07 Lakh to Mr. Uma to attend this international conference.Currently, Mr. Uma Shanker is a final year Ph.D. student and carrying out his research from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology under supervision of Prof. Kulbhushan Tikoo. Uma Shanker is keenly involved in area of metabolic diseases such as fatty liver disease and diabetes. Diet and balanced nutrition play a very important role in the human healthy life. Imbalanced nutrition leads to risk of medical illness such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). He reported that maintaining essential amino acid L-Methionine through dietary L-Methionine supplementation is essential for sustaining healthy life in individual with metabolic syndromes.Renowned scientists from prestigious institutes all over the world attended the conference and presented their work. Mr. Uma Shanker Navik from NIPER, SAS Nagar and Prof. Indraneel Mittra, Tata Memorial Centre were among the invited speakers from India .
