Member of Parliament Chaudhary Santokh Singh on Saturday flagged off an awareness van in Phillaur Civil Hospital under Tandarust Punjab Sehat Muhim to make people aware about good health and hygiene practices, Speaking during the event, Lok Sabha MP said that the van would cover each village of Phillaur and health staff accompanying with the van would apprise the people about healthy practices and how to prevent the various types of diseases. The MP informed that hi-tech van has been equipped with LED Television screen, Public Address System and elevated platform as makeshift dais, from where experts would interact with the people to educate them on health issues, besides showing awareness films. Further, The Lok Sabha MP disclosed that the van would cover minimum 8-10 locations per day and stop at the biggest village among these locations. Moreover, he said that basic Laboratory tests like (HB, BP, Random Blood Sugar, Blood Slide for MP, Sputum for AFB, Visual acuity, Near vision (RE/LE) would be conducted on the spot adding that free medicines like Paracetamol, Antibiotics like Amoxicillin and others would be given to the patients. He also added that van would have a visitor's book to take feedback/ comments from community members. Publicity material regarding various preventive measures from the diseases in the form of pamphlets, brochures, posters would also be distributed among the public. Mr Chaudhary called Tandurust Punjab Sehat Muhim is the biggest outreach activity of the department.On the occasion, SDM Mr Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Phillaur Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Dr Jatinder Singh, SMO Dr Avinash Mangrotra, Dr Kuldeep Rai, Dr Mahesh Kumar Prabhakar, Dr Parampal Singh, Dr Neeraj Sodhi and others were present.
